Things to Look Out For With Car Lights
Compared to the other, more prominent parts of the car, the lights seem to be a minor aspect of the machine. One must not disregard these things because of its size; they have important functions to play in your vehicle.
Make sure to check the condition of the lights in your car regularly. The most minor problems in the car lights will pose a problem in driving at night, or just simply driving in general. Do not forget to monitor these lights:
Indicator Lights
Indicator lights must be closely monitored. The bulb may have blown and you would still be unaware of it. Look out for certain discrepancies. For instance, when you indicate in one direction and the indicator flashes faster when you indicate to the other, it usually means that the bulb needs to be replaced. Another way to easily check them is while parked safely, activate the hazard lights and they should all begin to flash. Any light that does not flash should be looked into immediately.
A trip to the auto parts store will help you determine the best replacement for any blown bulb.
Headlights
Headlights also deserve much attention. Do not pick the bulb up with your fingers. When you do, the traces of oil and grease from your fingertips will remain on the glass. When the bulb is finally used, the touched part of the glass will heat up faster, causing it to crack. This is because most bulbs now contain halogen and have a special coating, which makes it more sensitive. If you need to change headlight bulbs, wear clean gloves or just hold it at the metal bulb holder.
With these things in mind, you will reduce the possibility of worse problems concerning your car lights.
